My name is Mary Manning and I am super excited to be teaching music to your children here at Banks County Primary School! I graduated from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia in May of 2016 with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and my certification in Music P-12. I recently completed my Master of Arts in English at Southern New Hampshire University in February of 2018 as well, and incorporate literacy skills within my music classroom daily!
I have FAME certifications in First Steps in Music and Conversational Solfege Levels 1 & 2. I am Google Certified Educator: Level 1. I am a member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA), the Feierabend Association for Music Education (FAME), and the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE). This will be my third year teaching music, and I am super excited to be sharing this experience with your children!
I have always wanted to be a teacher. I remember in 2nd grade, it really hit me that I liked helping other kids understand what I understood. This want to help grew tremendously over the years, and I began taking any teaching opportunities I could find -- from teaching as a summer school tutor to working as a Vacation Bible School teacher. My wont to teach music grew not from a musical family, as I come from a family where I am the only musician, but from giving clarinet lessons to a sixth grader when I was in high school. Knowing that it was because I helped her to understand the concepts that she was able to play so beautifully at a such a young age made me want to continue to teach music so that I might help other children find that they too can create beautiful music. I love teaching music, and I am so happy I have the opportunity to teach music to the wonderful children at Banks County Primary!
